I heard the news yesterday on Michael Medved about Rosie O'Donell's misguided comparison of Christianity to Islam. Many of you know by now that she stated, "radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America." Since I'm a man of the "cloth" I need to put in my two cents. At first I debated this and decided not to dignify her ignorant statement by commenting on it. Today, however, since many in the blogospehere are commenting on the subject, I have caved; weakened; gone soft; failed to exercise self control.
First of all, I assume when riveting Rosie refers to radical Christians, she means conservative Republican Evangelicals. She could possibly be alluding to Spanish Inquisition type Catholics. However, they no longer exist. I also suspect her homosexual lifestyle may guide her beliefs on the matter. I run in conservative Christian circles. In my 31 years as an evangelical Christian not once have I heard anyone hint at physically or psychologically harming gays. Radical Muslims, on the other hand hang gays. Furthermore, they often invoke holy war (jihad) as a condition of faith. They believe they must demonstrate their faith by murdering those outside of Islam. Anyone see Christians declaring jihad on Muslims? The most violent thing I witness in Christianity is when Benny Hinn blows on someone and they fall down. Most mainstream evangelicals view Benny Hinn as a charlatan. Some evangelical groups (a small minority at that) encourage boycotting Disneyland on gay pride day. I guess you might call a few hurt feelings an act of violence as well.
Rosie also said this:
...but we are bombing innocent people in other countries. True or false?"
True. But, the jihadists deliberately set us up. They hide in mosques and place ammo caches in neighborhoods and hospitals. Then , they sit back and cheer while Rosie engages in the very thing they set her up to do-indict the U.S. The old philosophy, "it's either me or them," comes into to play here. I don't want them on my soil threatening my kids. Therefore, I'll hunt them down on their turf and eventually destroy them. Ordinary citizens of the Middle East hate this fear ridden environment they live in. So, here goes. I'm going to say it. Dare I say it? Yes, I must. In the grander scheme of things, we're doing them a favor. Americans must always look at the big picture when fighting a war.
Blogs commenting on Rosie's statements found here and here.

WOW HOW IGNORANT R U? I have never agreed with O'Donell onany of her idiot comments.. Rahter how she became a celebrity with a voice of power I wonder.. but you should know more about Islam before you criticize it or you are just as bad as she is. Islam does NOT teach violence... DARE I SAY IT-- Power houses do..ppl like u give them the power to go to other ppl's countries and declare a state of war...
