The issue hit the news today front and center. We expected this issue to arise. Lashawn Barber posts an interesting perspective on the matter. Truth is, the public sooner or later will demand the government keep a closer eye on young men of Middle Eastern descent. Fears of a WWII Japanese type internment seem unwarranted. Yet, if we continue to face threats from jihadists, the profiling will become inevitable. Furthermore, many rewrites of Japanese interment exist out there. These usually come from young people so far removed historically from the issue they possess no context for the subject. To be sure, no excuse exists for this terrible moment in history. However, my father, a WWII veteran, made a good case for internment when he said, "You didn't know who the enemy was." Michelle Malkin's book, In Defense Of Internment might shed some light on the problem.
