Today we celebrate the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. We often lift them up as two of the greatest leaders humankind has ever known. But, did you know that Abraham Lincoln failed miserably most of his life? Not only that, personal tragedy became a regular visitor to his world. Below I posted a time line of Lincoln's difficulties which he managed to overcome and the rest, as they say, is histwa. (history)

I believe a beneficial exercise for us might involve writing out our own timeline with the positives in it. Compare it with Lincoln's. From Lincoln we learn that failure merely serves as a learning tool for launching us onward and upward toward growth.
